Whether you are a first timer or a seasoned filmmaker, get ready for a fresh and exciting new film challenge.
Shot by the Sea is a film project which invites new and experienced film makers to make a 6 minute short film (Animation, Drama or Documentary) as part of the Galway 2020 Small Towns Big Ideas project. The project is supported by The Village Salthill.
This year and due to the Covid-19 restrictions filmmakers are invited to make movies and submit them to the festival until the 31st of October.
What is The Challenge?
To make a short film that is shot by the sea and is less than 6min including credits.
You can shoot your film on a mobile phone, film or your digital camera, we don’t mind how you do it. We want all sorts of shorts films, all genres – Comedy, Romance, Tragedy, History, Horror…whatever you like. We welcome all forms of film, narrative, experimental and animation, from right across the globe. We know that there are some beautiful locations along coastlines and we challenge our filmmakers to use these in a new ways, new angles to tell exciting new stories.
On 1st March 2020 teams started making their films and this year due to the lockdown not everyone had time to finish their project, as we postponed our gala event until November, filmmakers are welcome to film and submit until the 31st of October.
So now you can submit your film until October the 31st. We will hold a live event in Salthill on the 26th of November 2020. A selection of the films submitted will be screened during the day at the Salthill Hotel. In the evening we will hold a gala event and an award ceremony where selected movies will be screened and some prizes will be given. Everybody is welcome to come and enjoy.
All films will be available on-line after the event.
